Father
Martin A. Horvath, 83, of Goshen, Indiana, died at 4:30 a.m.
Sept. 20, 2000, in Greencroft Gables Health Care, Goshen.
He was born July 30, 1917, in East
Chicago, to Martin and Rosalie Toth Horvath.
He graduated from Catholic Central
High School (now Bishop Noll Institute), Hammond; St. Lawrence
Seminary, Mt. Calvary, Wis.; and St. Meinrad Seminary, St. Meinrad.
On June 6, 1943, he was ordained into priesthood at Cathedral
of Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne. He first assisted
at Our Lady of Hungary from 1943-62; .was then pastor at: St.
Mary of the Assumption, South Bend, from 1962-66; Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, Warsaw, from 1966-83, and St. Dominic Catholic
Church, Bremen, from 1983-92; and retired in July 1992 from St.
John's Catholic Church, Goshen. He worked on Rep-Cana Conferences
and the Marriage Tribunal, was on the Presbyterial Council of
Priests, was area vicar for priests, and was a Fourth Degree
Knight Council 553.
He was preceded in death by two
sisters and a brother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, with Bishop John M.
D'Arcy officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery,
South Bend.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday
and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. A
vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

by McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
