Our Heavenly Father called
Laura Faith Parker of Winona Lake, Indiana, home at 4:25 a.m. on Monday, May
12, 2014, at her residence at the age of 53.
received a diagnosis of Melanoma in 2001. Buoyed by the grace of God,
the power of prayer and a pilgrimage to Lourdes, France, she was an
inspiration to her family and friends as she continued to live a productive
and purposeful life. She especially loved music, attending concerts,
traveling with her family, and participating in the parish life at Sacred
Heart Catholic Church of Warsaw. She graduated from Blackford County
High School in 1978; and was a 1982 graduate of Ball State University with a
BA in Computer Science.
born on June 18, 1960, in Hartford City, Indiana to the late James Martin
Jernigan and Faith Elaine (Charnley) Jernigan. On February 23, 1980,
she was married to the love of her life Jeffrey Urbane Parker, who survives
in Winona Lake, Indiana.
and Jeff were the proud and loving parents of Sara (husband Joe) Ruesewald;
Ross (fiancée Elizabeth Strater) Parker (all of Chicago, Illinois);
and Martin (fiancée Courtney Flamion) Parker (Fort Wayne, Indiana).
addition to her husband and children she also leaves behind her
brother: James (wife Terri) Jernigan (Hartford City, Indiana); three
sisters: Jennifer, Christy, and Martina Jernigan (all of Indianapolis,
Indiana); and Mary Ann (husband Robert) Cockerel (Avon, Indiana);
brother-in-law: Michael Underwood (Fairmount, Indiana); numerous
nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends who she loved
and whom loved her in return. She was preceded in death by her parents,
and her sister Elaine Underwood...In a blink of God’s eye
we will all be together again.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 3:00 –
5:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225
Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.
of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014,
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 N. Harrison Street, Warsaw, Indiana, and
celebrated by Father Phil DeVolder. Burial will follow with a graveside
service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana.
