A funeral Mass for Louis Joseph Polsinelli, 59,
of Maryville,Tenn., formally of Logansport, will be held at 1
p.m. Monday in All Saints Catholic Church. He passed
away Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Maryville, Tennessee.
Born Aug. 24, 1941, in Logansport, he was
the son of the late Anthony Louis Polsinelli and Lucy Firmani
Polsinelli, who survives in Logansport. On Dec. 9, 1994,
in Gatlinburg, Tenn., he was married to Cindy L. Smith, who also
survives.
A 1959 graduate of Logansport High School, he attended
Ball State University and Fort Lewis A&M in Durango, Colorado.
He was a member of the Chesterton {Ind.} police
force for more than five years.
An avid golfer, he taught golf to Bethleham Steel
employees' children in Chesterton.
When in Logansport, he established the annual Polsinelli
Open Golf Tournament.
He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and
the American Legion in Logansport.
Also surviving are one son, Louis J. Polsinelli
II, Maryville, Tenn.; two daughters, Kimberly Polsinelli, Chicago,
Ill., and Gina Polsinelli, Griffith; one stepson, Benjamin Smith,
and one stepdaughter, Danielle Smith, both of Maryville, Tenn.;
his twin sister and her husband, Judith P. and Jim Atherton,
Anderson; one nephew, Jay Atherton, and his fiancee, Dina Marie
Andrews, Arlington, Va.; one niece and her husband, Janelle and
Jeff DeWolf, Carmel; one great-nephew, Jack DeWolf, and one great-niece,
Julia DeWolf, both of Carmel; one uncle and his wife, Lawrence
and Clara Firmani, Logansport; five aunts and their spouses,
Mary and Elmer Antonelli, Mary L. Marocco, and Madalyne
and Paul Donahue, all of Logansport, Mary Marocco, Palo Alto,
Calif., and Marian Marocco, Sarasota, Fla.; and his mother-in-law,
Grace Smith Grovertown, and his late father-in-law, Rolla Smith.
His paternal grandparents, Louis and Judith Polsinelli, and his
maternal grandparents, Joseph and Josephine Firmini, also preceded
in death.
Father John Zahn will officiate at the Mass. Burial will
be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday in
Marocco Funeral Chapel, where a Scripture Service will be held
at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
