Robert J. McGrath

Robert
J McGrath, 61, of Warsaw, died at 9:15 p.m. March 15, 2008, in
Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Feb. 5, 1947, in
Chicaqgo Heights, Ill., to James Thomas and Elizabeth Mary Brice
McGrath. On Aug. 29, 1970, in South Bend, he married Maria
Bely, who survives.
He was a math and industrial
arts teacher at St Joe School, Mishawaka. He moved to Warsaw
from Mishawaka in October 1980. He was a member of Sacred
Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, and a graduate
of Bethel College, Mishawaka. He was a Scoutmaster of Troop
819; an amateur radio operator; an umpire of men's softball in
South Bend; and after ushering at Notre Dame games for 39 years,
he received his "gold card," giving him the privilege
of going to all Notre Dame sports activities at no charge.
Also surviving are a son, Josef
(and spouse Manie) McGRath, Fort Wayne; two daughters, Erin McGrath,
Indianapolis, and mary McGrath, at home; two grandchildren, Jacob
and Joshua McGrath, both of Fort Wayne; four brothers: Michael
(and spouse Paula) McGrath, Channon, Ill.; James (and spouse
Gwen) McGrath, Slidell, La.; John (and spouse Marleen) McGrath,
Edwardsburg, Mich.; and William (and Mary Jane) McGrath, Grand
Rapids, Mich.; two sisters, Maureen (and spouse Ed) Tedrow, Slidell,
and kathy McGrath, Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, with Monsignor
James Wolf of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Burial
will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, Ill..
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6
to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a vigil service at
3:30 p.m..
