R. Miller, 86, of 41 N. Orchard Drive, Warsaw, Indiana, died
at 4:30 a.m. Sept. 16, 2004, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
He was born Sept. 28, 1917, in
Covington, to Joseph N. and Vera Wagner Miller. On Oct. 18, 1938,
in Plymouth, he married Martha Bergaman, who died Aug., 16, 1946.
On Nov. 15, 1947, he married Rita Urynowicz, who died April
Living in Warsaw since 1936, he
worked at United Telephone from 1935-78, was Warsaw Fire Chief
from 1950-1952 and was president of the Warsaw Park Board from
1956-59. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw,
American Legion Post 49, where he was a past commander, and Warsaw
Elks Club, and a life member of Knights of Columbus 4511. He
was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, serving
in the European theater. He received a field commission to second
lieutenant on July 17, 1945, in Lilliebonne, France.
Surviving are a daughter, Jo Ann
Klodzinski, Mishawaka; a son, Joseph Miller, Leesburg; two grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. Burial will be
in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with a military graveside service
by member of Warsaw American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 1126.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday
at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with a rosary service
at 7:30 p.m.
