Parker-Laura       Our Heavenly Father called Laura Faith Parker of Winona Lake, Indiana, home at 4:25 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014, at her residence at the age of 53.

She received a diagnosis of Melanoma in 2001.  Buoyed by the grace of God, the power of prayer and a pilgrimage to Lourdes, France, she was an inspiration to her family and friends as she continued to live a productive and purposeful life.  She especially loved music, attending concerts, traveling with her family, and participating in the parish life at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Warsaw.  She graduated from Blackford County High School in 1978; and was a 1982 graduate of Ball State University with a BA in Computer Science.

She was born on June 18, 1960, in Hartford City, Indiana to the late James Martin Jernigan and Faith Elaine (Charnley) Jernigan.  On February 23, 1980, she was married to the love of her life Jeffrey Urbane Parker, who survives in Winona Lake, Indiana.

Laura and Jeff were the proud and loving parents of Sara (husband Joe) Ruesewald; Ross (fiancée Elizabeth Strater) Parker (all of Chicago, Illinois); and Martin (fiancée Courtney Flamion) Parker (Fort Wayne, Indiana).

In addition to her husband and children she also leaves behind her brother:  James (wife Terri) Jernigan (Hartford City, Indiana); three sisters:  Jennifer, Christy, and Martina Jernigan (all of Indianapolis, Indiana); and Mary Ann (husband Robert) Cockerel (Avon, Indiana); brother-in-law:  Michael Underwood (Fairmount, Indiana); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends who she loved and whom loved her in return.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Elaine Underwood...In a blink of God’s eye we will all be together again.

       Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 N. Harrison Street, Warsaw, Indiana, and celebrated by Father Phil DeVolder.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana.
